Katie McGinnis is a 17-year-old senior on the honor roll. Katie names Mrs. Stegner, Mrs. Evans, Ms. Reese, and Mrs. Ramseier as her favorite teachers. Katie’s favorite subjects are math, agriculture, and financial literacy. Some of Katie’s hobbies and interests outside of school include playing sled hockey, showing chickens for FFA, driving her miniature team of donkeys, and participating in track and field. When asked to discuss her role models, Katie stated, “John Reid is one of my role models because he helps me become a better hockey player and more confident in general. Cherrie Mellot helps improve my independent living skills--now and as an adult. Pierce Grandchamp gives me helpful advice and resources.” Katie shared that a “fun-fact” about herself is, “I enjoy crocheting at the St. John’s Church. I have made dish cloths, bags, and I am now starting to make a blanket.” When asked to discuss an accomplishment that she is proud of, Katie responded, “I am proud for advancing on the hockey team. I am currently practicing with the adult team, and next year I will officially be on the adult team.” Katie shared her future plans: “After graduating high school, I plan to attend Morgan Community College in Wray, get a degree in poultry science and start a poultry business. I would also like to continue playing sled hockey and some day try out for the women’s national team.” A piece of advice Katie offers her fellow students is, “Put all your effort into everything you do because success comes from 100% effort. Also, be humble and kind to everyone.”
Mr. Johnson states, “Katie is doing a great job both in and out of the classroom. Along with earning a position on the honor roll, she is involved in sled hockey and FFA, among other activities. Katie is an inspiration to all of us, and we are incredibly proud of all her accomplishments. Keep up the good work Katie! We will certainly miss you next year but know great things await you! Congratulations on being selected as Wolf of the Month!”
